About Becky Franzen

Meet Becky Franzen, IBCLC, MA, Health & Wellness

Hi, I’m Becky - the heart behind Brave Breastfeeding. I’m an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with a Master’s degree in Health & Wellness focused on lactation. My passion is helping families feel confident, supported, and cared for during one of life’s most important transitions.

For me, breastfeeding support is about more than latch positions or pumping schedules—it’s about meeting you where you are. Every family has its own feeding goals, and my role is to provide evidence-based guidance with compassion and respect, so you feel empowered to make the choices that are right for you and your baby.

Why Work With an IBCLC?

Not all lactation support is the same. As an IBCLC, I’ve completed extensive training and over 300 hours of clinical practice to provide specialized care for:

  • Latching challenges, nipple pain, and oral restrictions (tongue or lip tie).
  • Milk supply concerns - whether oversupply, low supply, or returning to work.
  • Pumping support, including flange sizing and efficient pumping strategies.
  • Feeding plans for NICU graduates, bottle-feeding families, and combination feeding.

Choosing an IBCLC means you’ll be seen by a clinical care provider and receive the highest standard of lactation care available, backed by both medical knowledge and practical experience.

My Community & Professional Involvement

I’m proud to be part of the following groups supporting families in the area.

  • Birth Collective of Dubuque
  • The Lactation Club of Dubuque (TLC)
  • Iowa Lactation Consultant Association
  • United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA)

I also mentor aspiring IBCLCs and provide education to healthcare providers across the Tri-State Area, ensuring more families can access quality lactation care.

A Note From Me

When you walk into a consultation or support group, I want you to feel safe, supported, and heard. There’s no “one right way” to feed your baby—there’s only your way. My promise is to help you navigate challenges with confidence and celebrate every milestone along the way.

-Becky

Becky is the best in her field. She is not only professional and a wealth of knowledge, she is kind, compassionate and meets you where you are in your journey. There is no one I would trust more with my patients, friends and family.
