Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at 608-330-3399 if you cannot find an answer to your question.

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a clinical care provider and the gold standard for lactation support. IBCLCs complete thousands of hours of training and clinical practice, pass a rigorous board exam, and follow evidence-based standards of care.  While some support roles (like peer counselors or CLCs) provide valuable help, an IBCLC is uniquely qualified as a clinical care provider to manage complex feeding issues such as tongue tie, low supply, oversupply, and NICU transitions.

I offer in-person visits in Lancaster, in-home visits within 30 minutes of Cuba City as well as virtual and phone consultations.

We’ll start by reviewing your history, feeding goals, and concerns. Then I’ll observe a feeding (if possible), assess positioning and latch, and provide hands-on support. Afterward, you’ll receive a written care plan and a follow-up phone call.

Initial consultations are typically 90 minutes. Follow-ups are about 60 minutes. Phone consultations are 30 minutes.

Yes. Partners and support people are encouraged to attend so they feel confident supporting you at home.

Yes. I offer flexible scheduling Monday through Saturday, including some evening availability.

Yes. I accept many major insurance plans, including BCBS, Aetna, UHC, UMR, and Cigna for home visits, office visits and virtual consultations in Wisconsin and Iowa. When your insurance is billed, you may have a co-pay or payment to reach your plan's deductible. When you reach out, I will help you understand what you can expect, based on your specific insurance circumstance.

I provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. You can submit these directly to your insurance company.

Credit, debit, and HSA/FSA cards are accepted.

No, but we'd love to know that you are planning to attend!  Each month, Brave Breastfeeding posts an event about Milk Parties and you can respond "going" on the event to let us know your plans.  It's always ok just to show up as well. Support groups are free and open to all families.

Dubuque: 2nd & 4th Mondays, 9:30–10:30am at Nurtiva Pelvic Therapy

Lancaster: 4th Tuesday, 5–6pm at Connected Chiropractic

Support groups are a safe, welcoming space to ask questions, share experiences, and connect with other parents. I’m there to answer lactation questions and provide guidance as needed.

Group classes are offered regularly in Dubuque and Lancaster. You can check the Events  page for upcoming dates.

I have an office in Lancaster, WI. However, I see families in the greater Dubuque area as well as SW Wisconsin through Dubuque Support Group, in-home visits and prenatal classes.

I aim to see families within 1–3 days of contact, and sometimes same-day appointments are available.

You can book online, call, or email using the Contact page.

Signs include steady weight gain, regular wet/dirty diapers, and an alert, satisfied baby after feeds. I can help evaluate this during a consultation.

Pain is not normal and often points to issues with latch, positioning, or oral function. A consultation can help uncover the cause and provide solutions.

Nipple pinching, pain, or poor milk output may mean your flange size is off. During a flange fitting appointment, we’ll measure and test sizes to ensure comfort and efficiency.

Yes. I assess for oral restrictions and provide support before and after procedures if needed.

Absolutely. My goal is to support your feeding choices, whether that’s breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, or a mix.
